With its wood-based core, laminate flooring is considerably fragile when water comes into play. Water that may drop on and pool on the surface, near open seams or the edges, can work its way below and into the core. The core will soak up the water and after drying, the core may not return to its original dimensions so best to keep away from areas where liquids are likely to impact your floors such as in kitchens and bathrooms.
